Andrei Negură’s artistic practice develops a pictorial language in which matter, gesture, and time converge into a visual structure of remarkable complexity. His paintings are constructed through successive accumulations, superimpositions, and interventions that preserve the visibility of their own process of formation, each chromatic layer, each collage insertion, and each drawn trace naturally integrating into the material memory of the work. The pictorial surface functions as a palimpsest, where time becomes an active dimension of the image.
The compositions are articulated through a network of lines distinguished by a pronounced calligraphic character. Each trajectory establishes relationships between colour, sign, and space, guides the movement of the eye, and modulates the internal flow of the surface in a progression reminiscent of the logic of a musical score. The energy of the gesture and the discipline of construction evolve simultaneously within each composition, sustaining a visual order in which spontaneity and precision coexist as complementary principles. Fragments of paper, graphic signs, and vegetal motifs constitute a formal vocabulary rooted in ornamental and symbolic traditions, integrating organically into the pictorial fabric.
The chromatic palette, structured around warm and luminous harmonies animated by vivid accents and subtle contrasts, reinforces the internal dynamics of the image. The materiality of colour acquires a pronounced tactile presence, while the alternation between fullness and void, density and transparency, condensation and openness endows the works with an organic rhythm and an expansive visual breath. The traces of every intervention remain visible, contributing to the formation of a unified visual organism.
Andrei Negură’s oeuvre defines a space in which line, drawing, colour, and collage establish a distinctive visual syntax. Symbolic structures and sensory experience crystallise into form and a unique pictorial identity, defining a profoundly personal artistic practice. Through the synthesis of compositional precision, freedom of expression, and the force of matter, his work occupies a distinctive position within the context of contemporary abstraction, affirming painting as a medium capable of preserving and reactivating cultural experience.
